The Cautionary Side of Big Data
While big data may be heralded as the new frontier, there are limitations to what this wave of information can achieve. The drawbacks to this movement are worth exploring. As with any advancement, there are both opportunities and challenges. Concerns about privacy, appropriate use of information, and unintended consequences need to be explored. In this session, the panelists Rebecca Costa, Michael Chui and Steve Hirdt examine potential pitfalls of the big data movement, including its use in higher education, and help participants to more critically engage with its uses.
