During a press briefing in Ankara on Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his discontent towards Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis over describing Hamas as a “terrorist organisation”. Erdogan said he views them as a resistance movement and that over 1,000 of its members were being treated in Turkish hospitals.

Two Turkish sources with knowledge speaking to Middle East Eye said the president had misspoken and that the number referred to Palestinian civilians from Gaza.
