Whakahoro ‘Sol’ Te Whata of the Māori Battalion’s A Company was laid to rest today. The veteran affectionately known as 'Sol' was celebrated as a humble man of faith who did much for the community. With his passing it's claimed just one surviving Northland member of the 28th Māori Battalion now remains.
