The biggest offseason storyline for the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team will be RJ Davis’ decision to return (or not) for his fifth year of college, allowed because of COVID. UNC is guaranteed to lose Armando Bacot, Davis’ partner-in-crime. If Davis leaves as well, the Tar Heels will have lost their two lynchpins from this year’s roster.

Davis’ timeline to make his decision will also play a role in UNC’s ability to fill out areas of need on their roster.

Incoming freshmen Ian Jackson and Drake Powell participated in the 2024 McDonald’s All-American game on Tuesday night. Both showed great flashes, but it was Jackson’s scoring output that really opened people’s eyes.
