"Why would you sit here and listen to a teacher?" - simply because Mareike flips the coin and beautifully shows us why we should rethink our perspective on teaching. It is incredible which impact she and other teachers have - social change, shaping the year 2100 and their students' everyday lives.
Mareike Hachemer, a teacher from Wiesbaden, was selected out of 5000 nominations from 127 countries for the inaugrual Global Teacher Prize teacher prize in 2015. She is one of the Top 50 teachers in the world! Mareike teaches German, English and Drama. She has taught at ten different types of schools and universities in Germany, England and New Zealand. All of her lessons are guided by the idea that time in school should be a time of possibilities for students and not be seen as a waste of time. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx |
