Super Star Rajnikanth's next venture is officially underway with the pre-production stage almost completed and the first schedule of shooting beginning in August. Though the cast is full of heavyweights, the crew may not be. Director of the film, Pa Ranjith, is relatively inexperienced with just two films under his belt.

Strong rumours are spreding that the director may have accidently blurted out the official title of the film. In a recent interview, the director was talking about Rajnikanth's character in the film, saying that it is similar to the character the Super Star played in the 1978 classic, Mullum Malarum; the only difference being the age.

The director also confessed to Rajnikanth that the character Kaali in Mullum Malarum is one of his favourite characters and it wasn't just a coincidence that Karthi's name was Kaali or Kaaleswaran in Madras.

Putting all these pieces together, the movie might be titles 'Kaali', but the official announcement isn't out yet. We should also remember that Rajnikanth has already acted in a movie named Kaali way back in 1980, but the two movies are not connected in anyway.
