Nicola Sturgeon to 'fully cooperate with police' over SNP probe, says spokesperson

Nicola Sturgeon has released a statement saying she will "fully co-operate with police if required" following her husband's arrest this morning.

Officers attended at the couple's home in Uddingston around 8am, where the the 58-year-old was arrested in connection with an investigation into the funding and finances of the SNP. Mr Murrell is the party's former chief executive.

The former first minister's spokesperson said Ms Sturgeon had "no prior knowledge" of Police Scotland's investigation into the SNP's finances.

Murrell was released without charge just before 7pm on Wednesday pending further investigation.
