On 8 May 2015 we hosted a lunchtime discussion on what makes a good political speech in New Zealand, which was followed by a Q & A session. Dr Bernard Cadogan presented us with a ‘perfect speech’, discussing the place of irony, wit and a range of other tools in political speeches today. It was an informative and thought-provoking speech and the following Q & A session proved stimulating. See http://nationvoicesnz.org for Bernard’s full speech, his PowerPoint slides and the speeches discussed during this presentation.
