Restorative Yin Yoga for lymphatic and immune system 🌸

A 70-min restorative Yin Yoga for your lymphatic system to strengthen your immune system💥.
Hi Yinsters! Before I went on holiday recently, I was overly busy and feeling quite overwhelmed and exhausted 😳 . If you can identify with this, then your immune system - like mine - probably needs a boost💪🏼! Join me for a restorative Yin Yoga class to reduce stress hormones and improve circulation through the lymphatic system to boost the body’s self-defence mechanism.

We’ll start with a breathing technique to calm the nervous system and move onto poses which stimulate the flow of lymph through the core by squeezing organs and muscles, working the abdomen with twists, forward, back and side bends. This specific targeting of the immune and lymphatic system calms and strengthens the body. You'll need a wall, a bolster and blocks.

The theme for April is Yin Yoga and Wellness💐! So, join me every Wednesday in April to enhance your wellbeing and enjoy the oasis of peace and quiet on your yoga mat away from busyness and demands of life! 😊

I would love to hear from you and know what you thought of this class. Do you like these long practices? Would you like to see more of these on my channel? Or perhaps you’d like shorter practices? Leave me a comment below and share your experience!

What is Yin Yoga?
Unlike other yoga styles which focus on building muscle strength, Yin Yoga is often called Yoga of the joints because the focus is on the working the deep connective tissue, not on the muscles. Connective tissue, made of ligaments, muscles and tendons, bind the bones together and stabilise the joints. Yin Yoga focuses on exercising the joints. This creates space, facilitating a greater range of motion and increased flexibility as well as stabilising and strengthening the joints. Although your muscles will be stretched when doing Yin - 30% of our muscles is actually fascia - this is not the focus of the practice. The tissues targeted during the Yin practice are dryer and less elastic than the muscles so require gentle pressure, applied for longer periods of time in order to ‘stress’ and strengthen the connective tissue. So, if you’ve only been working the muscular half of your body with dynamic, active practices, I encourage you to balance your practice by working the other half of your body, the ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks and even the bones. Remember, all our tissues are important and need to be exercised to achieve and maintain optimal health!

Thanks for watching 🙏🏼!
