European Union leaders meeting in Brussels on Thursday endorsed a plan for sending Ukraine one million rounds of artillery ammunition within the next 12 months to help the country counter Russia’s invasion forces.

Speaking to reporters after the leaders' summit, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the bloc must "massively ramp up production capacity on ammunition."
