During the first session of the 2014 Talloires Network Leaders Conference, TN steering committee leaders Janice Reid (University of Western Sydney) and Anthony Monaco (Tufts University) welcome participants and introduce the first panel.

Four vice-chancellors from the Cape Higher Education Consortium spoke to the conference attendees, welcoming them to the Cape Town region. Speakers included:
-- Max Price, University of Cape Town
-- Tyrone Pretorius, University of the Western Cape
-- Leopoldt Van Huyssteen, Stellenbosch University
-- Prins Nevhutalu, Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Finally, TN Executive Director Robert Hollister introduced a video tribute to Professor Russel Botman, Vice-Chancellor of Stellenbosch University, who passed away earlier in 2014.
