Sale Bridge, we cross over it every day. It’s an overlooked part of history. Not grand or world renowned like tower bridge but it’s just as important to us. I don’t even know when it was built. But there would have been no need for it until 1765 when the Bridgewater canal came through Sale. Sale is a large town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, it is located on the south bank of the River Mersey, 1.9 miles (3.1 km) south of Stretford, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) northeast of Altrincham, and 5.2 miles (8.4 km) southwest of Manchester. In 2011, it had a population of 134,022.
