Set aside what you think you know about atheism, agnosticism and religion. Do you find god-beliefs unhelpful or not even sensible? But what are you really trying to do? Most people suppose that it's all about BELIEF and, if you can get the right “answer” you will be happy. But this, more than belief in “God” is the real damage done by the traditional Abrahamic religions. It's not belief that matters it's how people form beliefs, whcih is to say, THINKING.

It is far more important, as we experience our lives and try to make sense of it all, to question and, especially, to NOT BELIEVE in things that could be wrong. As Voltaire said, uncertainty may be uncomfortable but certainty is absurd. We discuss this here in IGNORANCE vs ERROR and what our religion of Freethought is about. This is real food for thought and lots to think about.
