David Bowie and Friends - The Supermen (In Concert John Peel, Stereo) |

November 2022 saw the release of the "Divine Symmetry" Bowie boxset. Continuing the new line re-issuing individual Bowie albums (starting with 1969's "Space Oddity" in 2019) this boxset now features anthology tracks all related to Bowie's Hunky Dory album. From demos, to live performances, to alternate and new mixes from producer Ken Scott, it is a must-have for any Hunky Dory diehard fans!
Personally, I'm quite astounded by this release. For starters, it's a shame it hasn't been released on YouTube Music therefore making it harder to stream the boxset. Aswell as this, the quality of some of these demos are astonishingly awful, particularly on headphones. If the demos are that scuffed that even bootlegs have better fidelity to them then I don't see the point of releasing them officially. But that's just my personal opinion! Recorded 3rd June, 1971 and broadcast 20th June, 1971 Paris Cinema Studio, Regent Street, London Musicians: David Bowie – lead vocals (except as below) George Underwood – lead vocals on ‘Song For Bob Dylan’ & ‘It Ain’t Easy’ (3rd verse) & backing vocals Dana Gillespie – lead vocals on ‘Andy Warhol’, backing vocals Geoff MacCormack (aka Alexander) – lead vocals ‘It Ain’t Easy’ (2nd verse), backing vocals Mark Pritchett (aka Carr-Pritchard) – guitars, backing vocals Mick Ronson – guitars, backing vocals Trevor Bolder – bass Woody Woodmansey – drums |
