The 2021 Met Gala had a theme of “American Independence” to coincide with the 2021 Costume Institute exhibit titled “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. Anna Wintour hosted the annual fundraiser in collaboration with Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s Head Curator, as well as with guest co-hosts Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, & Naomi Osaka.
