Gary Lucas is a guitarist, songwriter, and former copywriter for CBS Records. (He’s responsible for calling The Clash “the only band that matters.”) He has released more than 30 albums, but he is best known for playing with Captain Beefheart in the 1980s, and Jeff Buckley in the 1990s. Check out the clip below of him playing “Mojo Pin,” a song he wrote with Buckley. In this edition of Music Is My Life, he discusses his most famous collaborations (including Arthur Russell, and Matthew Sweet ) as well as his compliment from Leonard Bernstein.
