We are delighted to invite you to a speech by Elizabeth Truss MP, Minister for Education and Childcare.

Quality in Early Years settings is vital to improving child development and so influencing a whole range of factors in later life. This is particularly the case for children from more disadvantaged backgrounds. High quality Early Years provision can also play a role in increasing maternal employment levels. Policy Exchange has written extensively about how to improve the Early Years, including how to attract more graduates into childcare, how to reduce the costs to parents through reforms to the funding system, and how to improve the number of Good or Outstanding settings so that parents across the country can use their entitlement to free hours provision.

The Minister will discuss how quality in Early Years teaching can be defined and measured, how it can be improved, and how mechanisms including the Early Years Pupil Premium, as announced in the recent Budget, might help to improve social mobility.
