God of War follows the exploits of Spartan warrior Kratos who sells his soul to Ares (the titular god) in exchange for victory. Unfortunately he learns the true cost of his allegiance and when his loved ones are killed he vows vengeance. This is fortuitous to the other Olympian gods who feel Ares has overstepped his boundaries, and they will lend their gifts so that Kratos can attempt something no man has succeeded in: kill a god.
