If somebody is not able to control gas or motions it is called as incontinence. Normally we will have some sort of control when we want to release gas or even motions and there are multiple causes why somebody is not able to control there may be some neurological problems where nerves of the affected area in the area. If they're damaged they may have that but most of the times it is because of post-operative complications. If surgeries are done in that area where there is something called sphincters which will be controlling the passage of motions and gas if they are damaged then that can result in incontinence where that can be again surgically repaired and corrected. If it is neurological it will be difficult to correct it so this has to be diagnosed properly and then accordingly it should be treated. This is called incontinence. Incontinence can be for gas for liquids or for stools.
