The Mandalorian Season 3 returns to Disney+ in 2022, with filming set to begin in April of this year according to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Before then, we can expect the Book of Boba Fett and Star Wars: The Bad Batch which will come out on Star Wars Day, May the Fourth (be with you).

In this Star Wars news update, we take a look at big news for Bo-Katan Kryze in the future of the Mandalorian universe - The Mandalorian Season 3 and beyond. Katee Sackhoff talked about how Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau haven't told her when or if her character will return to the live-action Star Wars, Lucasfilm and Disney Plus series. The Mandalorian returns next year with filming and production to start in April. She also talked about Darth Maul, Pre Vizsla and Duchess Satine Kryze who she wants to see in live-action although through flashbacks since they both died in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

We also talk about Daisy Ridley who says she'd be willing to return to a future Star Wars project as Rey Skywalker at some point. We last saw her with BB8 by the Tatooine sunset at the end of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. If she were to return, it would take place long after the end of the Skywalker Saga. She discussed Luke Skywalker's appearance in the Mandalorian Season 2 finale - Chapter 16 "The Rescue" as point of reference as to how characters come back all the time in Star Wars.

Yesterday, we spoke about how the show will branch out into animated spin-offs over time. Could you imagine Pedro Pascal - Din Djarin and Baby Yoda - Grogu in animated form?

Speaking of animated Star Wars projects, Star Wars: The Bad Batch is the next upcoming Star Wars show coming on May 4th - Star Wars day. The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. The show will even feature Ming-Na Wen's Fennec Shand who will also appear in the Book of Boba Fett in December 2021. The Bad Batch is one of the many series announced by Kathleen Kennedy at Disney Investor Day 2020 as well as Star Wars: Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, Lando, Cassian Andor and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

After Gina Carano was fired from Lucasfilm by Disney, a lot of Star Wars fans have been proclaiming that Star Wars is dead with anti- Disney+ sentiments. But it isn't and the Star Wars franchise as well as The Mandalorian will recover as a series. The Mandalorian Season 3 will be amazing and now that Cara Dune will be killed off, new characters as well as smaller ones from the show could become Mando's new allies. Din Djarin - Pedro Pascal - currently wields the Darksaber and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) wants it. With Grogu (Baby Yoda - The Child) out of the picture for the time being since he is training with Luke Skywalker, it could be time for heroes such as Greef Karga, Cobb Vanth, Boba Fett, Migs Mayfeld and Koska Reeves to have the spotlight and help Mando to take on Moff Gideon and the Imperial Remnant in light of the upcoming rise of the First Order.
