G Chokkalingam, founder & managing director at Equinomics Research expects small and midcap stocks to rise substantially in the next four months.

“I was terribly negative till recently, but what has happened is, this all-time record high of Sensex is a misnomer. It is led only by 10-20 stocks. Top 20 stocks if we exclude, the remaining more than 4,500 stocks, they have fallen by anywhere around Rs 13 lakh crore. Rs 13 trillion on the market capitalization they lost as compared to January. So it is a shallow market and small and midcap stocks are punished more than what they deserve. Now this is the time to look at small and midcap space. I am pretty confident the next four months this segment will outperform the large-cap stocks,” Chokkalingam said.
