Danny Ainge is out as Celtics President of Basketball operations. He informed the Celtics that he is retiring. Ainge has been President since 2003. Ainge helped lead the Celtics to a NBA championship in 2008 and since 2003, the Celtics have made it to six Eastern Conference Finals. Danny Ainge is the only Celtic in the team’s 74-year history to win a championship as a player and as a general manager. Brad Stevens took over as coach of the Celtics in 2015. Stevens guided the Celtics to seven straight playoff appearances and three Eastern Conference Finals. Stevens will take over as General Manager and lead the search for the Celtics’ next head coach.
