Iceland Volcano Eruption Update; Golden Volcanic Glass Produced, Lava Effusion Drops |
![]() |
A new volcanic eruption recently began in Iceland just outside of the nation's capital. It is now day 17 of the eruption, and the main vent has erupted a grouping of golden volcanic glass. Known as "Pele's hair", it is an unusual type of long and thin lava flow strands. While the lava effusion rate has dropped in recent days, the trail leading to the eruption has been greatly improved. In this video, I discuss how this occurred.
