MASSIVE Head Clash in MLR Game | World Class Refereeing In The MLR

Take a bow Scott Green, that is how you handle foul play in rugby. This is the first time in a long time that I've seen a ref and TMO deal with a head clash by using common sense and logic when they discuss it. This incident was far more serious than the Charlie Ewels one in the England vs Ireland game from the weekend, yet the ref kept his cool and handled it with common sense. It was clear that Scott Green takes intent and malice into account when dealing with foul play. He uses context before making a decision that could alter the game.

If this was any ref from the URC or Six Nations then you would see the Seattle player getting a red card and season long suspension. I say this as an Houston SaberCats fan where our player was on the receiving end of a head-to-head clash. It was an accident that happened when 3 players went for the ball. The Seattle player did not go out to hurt our player. He went after the ball and in the process an accident happened where their heads clashed. There was no bad intent from the Seattle player, it was a freak accident.

Was it serious? yes of course it was, it resulted in 2 players going of the field. Was it foul play? No it was not! Players from both teams went after the ball, there was nothing that indicates that it was foul play. These types of stuff happen in a rugby game. That is why it's important to use context when looking at these incidents. An Accidental head clash is not the same as a player shoulder charging a guy in the head, or punching a guy in the face. The one is a rugby collision and the other is foul play. World Rugby is destroying the game by ignoring context in these circumstances. It's getting ridiculous.

If this was any ref from the URC or 6 Nations, the game would've been ruined with a red card. If this was Marius Jonker or any TMO from the URC and 6 nations, then this game would've been ruined.

But thanks to World Class refereeing by Scott Green, we had a fair and fantastic game of 15 vs 15. This is how cases like this should be handled.
