After Midnight (COVER) |

This is an Eric Clapton cover, which is a J.J. Cale cover "After Midnight," and I am playing it in the key of C major (same as Clapton). I would say that this might be my most challenging rock/blues tune from the stand point of all the instruments. Usually, this many instruments are in orchestral or big band pieces, but Clapton gives you a lot in such a small amount of time.
I first fell in love with this song when I heard Clapton's "Just one night," which is a live double album by blues rocker Eric Clapton, released in 1980. It was recorded live at the Budokan Theatre, Tokyo, Japan, December 1979. Give yourself a treat and buy this album. As stated earlier, it is in the key of C major. Verse: C (I), F (IV), Eb (minor third) Chorus: C (I), F (IV), G (V) The progression has to be simple because it allows all the instruments to fill the song.
