Where does South Carolina Women's Basketball Stand with the transfer of Talaysia Cooper?? |

On today's show, I discuss where does South Carolina Women's Basketball stand with the transfer of Talaysia Cooper.
Rising sophomore Talaysia Coope entered the transfer portal Wednesday evening. Cooper's departure leaves the Gamecocks with eleven players for the upcoming season. Cooper is in many ways an example of the give-and-take of the transfer portal. South Carolina brought in transfer Te-Hina Paopao, a combo guard and elite shooter who was two-time first team All-PAC 12. Paopao's addition probably meant that instead of competing for a starting spot Cooper would have been the third point guard at best. It's also a sign of how deep South Carolina is and how well the Gamecocks recruit. South Carolina now has five players listed as guards, and all were McDonalds's All-Americans and top 25 recruits. They are Raven Johnson ranked 2nd, Paopao ranked 11th, Milaysia Fulwiley ranked 13th, Bree Hall ranked 14th, and Tessa Johnson ranked 25th. All very talented players and all at various different levels of development. Redshirt sophomore, Raven Johnson looks to be in phenomenal shape as she readies to play for Team USA in a couple of days. Senior, Paopao has started off-season workouts after transferring from Oregon. She is ready to earn a starting spot alongside Raven. Incoming freshman Milaysia Fulwiley has settled in during the summer and her explosiveness will be difficult to stay on the bench this season. Junior, Bree Hall has waited her turn and now is gearing up to get minutes at the shooting guard and small forward position. Finally, incoming freshman Tessa Johnson, perhaps the best shooter in the 2023 class, has settled in during the summer and her sharpshooting will be her quickest way into a game. The question of where South Caolina basketball stands with the transfer of Talaysia Cooper. I think the Gamecocks are sitting pretty. I think that head coach Dawn Staley is set with the deepest guard combination in the country. Oh, by the way, another birdie flew into the nest about 12 hours after Cooper entered the portal. We are sitting nice on this side of the map. Let me just sip my sweet tea and eat my pig feet.
