Fulfilling the promise of bringing GNOME 42 apps to the next system, Nautilus 42 is already in the daily builds of Ubuntu 22.04.

Those testing the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 release can take a look at the latest version of Nautilus, the default file manager in Ubuntu.

Did not understand?. Nautilus 42 is already in the daily builds of Ubuntu 22.04!

Yes. Nautilus 42 is already in the daily builds of Ubuntu 22.04. Nautilus 42 was released as part of the recent GNOME 42 beta and is jumping to Jammy Jellyfish, albeit in a version that lacks the libadwaita fix offered on the GTK4 port.
Ubuntu 21.10 shipped with Nautilus 40, so Ubuntu 22.04 shipped with Nautilus 42 means there is a larger changelog than usual, with an improved file conflict UI, file rename UI Improved and support for file searching based on creation time included.

Nautilus now also shows compressed files in the Recent Files section, which complements the tweaked “Compress…” dialog box and support for creating password-protected Zip files that debuted in version 41.0.

Resizing Nautilus windows with grid view enabled is now more fluid as the EelCanas based grid view has been deprecated.

Nautilus' iconic pathbar also undergoes a minor redesign, although (visible in the hero image) the "theme" of this pathbar looks less than ideal in the Adwaita-based Ubuntu Yaru theme.

Hopefully Yaru's theme makers can refine the look and feel before the final 22.04 release in April.

I think it's fair to say that if there's one app I know pretty much every Ubuntu user, it's Nautilus. Improvements, however small, that make it faster and more functional are always welcome.
