The National Weather Service Thursday afternoon issued a Winter Storm Watch for Charlotte and the surrounding counties in both North Carolina and South Carolina ahead of likely winter weather this weekend.
The weather bulletins, which take effect Saturday night and continue through Monday morning, are issued ahead of impacts from possible winter weather - ranging from snow, to sleet, to ice, and freezing rain. Communities impacted include the mountains, foothills, and piedmont, including the City of Charlotte. A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel. WCNC Charlotte's team of meteorologists has been analyzing forecast data. While some uncertainty remains on accumulation and amounts, the likelihood of seeing some form of winter weather in Charlotte is high. Meteorologist KJ Jacobs is answering your questions.
