NZ has had equal pay law since 1972 but this is not the experience of Māori, Pacific and other ethnic minorities. Research by AUT shows 80% of pay decisions is based on unconscious bias. A focus on advocacy within the health sector where a 25% pay disparity exists between nurses in mainstream organisations vs. nurses in iwi provider groups.
