When you’re dissolving your marriage, where do you start when it’s time to divide property and assets? Most couples have what is known as “community property,” which is jointly owned and must be divided during a divorce. In some situations, one spouse may own what is considered “separate property,” which can be kept in-tact during a divorce. But issues surrounding separate property are complex, and most property and assets will be considered community property.
