There are many health inequalities and global health issues throughout the world, even in the UK. Ranging from climate change to gender inequalities to neglected tropical diseases and we often feel powerless against these challenges. What if big changes can be enacted when small actions are carried out by lots of people? Lopa Banerjee is a final year medical student at Cardiff University with an interest in public health. She was awarded first class honours for her intercalated BSc in Clinical Epidemiology at Cardiff University and has worked with Public Health Wales. Outside of medical school, she has been involved with the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA) and Students for Global Health UK (SfGH), at a local, national and international level throughout her time as a medical student. This has included writing policy papers for both the IFMSA and SfGH being branch president of Cardiff Students for Global Health, being the Co-Chair for the 2018 SfGH National Conference on Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS and she is currently on the SfGH National Committee as their National Policy and Advocacy Director. Outside of medicine and global health, Lopa enjoys running, the outdoors and aerial fitness. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
