U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy yesterday became the first House leader to address the Knesset in 25 years. He congratulated Israel on its 75th anniversary, calling it a “modern miracle.” Earlier in his visit, he said he would invite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Capitol Hill if President Joe Biden doesn’t soon invite him to the White House.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned Thursday that the U.S. could default on its debt as early as June 1st if Congress doesn’t act immediately to raise the nation’s debt limit.

And six people are dead after a dust storm lowered visibility to “zero” on Interstate 55 in Illinois, resulting in a 72-car pile-up. At least 30 were injured in the crashes just south of Springfield. The storm was triggered by strong winds kicking up dust from freshly plowed fields.
