Near the town Agios Ioannis, on the Aegean Sea side, there is Plaka Beach, with multicolored pebbles and green vegetation, which in some parts reaches the coast. The distance from Agios Ioannis and Plaka Beach is approximely 800 m, and you may use two ways to come from one place to another: by the car (the road is prity good, small part is not covered with asphalt) and by your foot, bypassing the giant rock that devids these two places. If you come by your car, you may park it from the back side of the hotel Edem, which is located on the Plaka beach, or you may enter with your car on the parking lot of the hotel and this services is payable. For the price of 6 euros you will get parking place, free sunbeds and umbrellas and I am not sure, but I think two drinks as well.
The beach is wide, with white sand and withe pebbles, the most beautifull ones. You may use the sunshades and deck chairs of the hotel or you may place you own sunshades, umbrellas and towels and enjoy your staying. The water is crystal clear, with beautifull blue color, and quite warm. It has plenty of shallow parts, mostly placed at both beginnings of the beach, so it is suitable for families with small children. Although sand prevails on the beach, there can be find gravel and small stones of all colors, as well as attractive rocks. The beach is protected with high green tree that makes beautiful shade. The right side of the beach, near Agios Ionnanis, has calmly sea, because of its position, but the shadow falls earlier because of the rock and the trees behind it. As well, on this side of the beach you may see the water spring that comes from the forest directly to the beach, and eventually into the see. While we were returning to Kala Nera, we used the opportunity to stopover in Millies, a small village in the mountains, and we had a little break. Milies is presented at 2:30 minutes in this video. Milies is a traditional Greek mountain village, at a height of 400 m. It has traditional stone houses, cobbled roads, good restaurants, stores, accommodation facilities and a museum. It is the final stop for the local attraction - Pelion steam train, which operates from spring to autumn with total travel time of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The traing departs from Ano Lechonia, where tickets can be bought.
