The US Justice Department may seek the extradition of a major drugs cartel boss in Mexico.

Grand juries in at least seven US federal district courts, including Chicago, San Diego, New York and Texas, already have handed up indictments for Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman.

Guzman's Sinaloa cartel controlled the transit of tonnes of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine from Mexico to the US.

His arrest on Saturday marks a huge victory in the Mexican government's war on drugs
