Stephen W. Burgher, MD, FACEP

Dr. Stephen Burgher is a board-certified emergency physician who practices at Baylor University Medical Center, a level I trauma center in Dallas, Texas. He is a Captain in the U.S. Navy Reserves, currently serving as an emergency medicine specialist with a Shock Trauma Platoon (mobile combat ER).
After completing medical school at the University of Texas in Houston, he served on active duty for over 10 years, and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Burgher's expertise includes hospital preparedness for chemical, biological, radiological and explosive incidents, as well as tactical and operational medical support for law enforcement.
He entered the Navy Reserves in December 2010, and has been mobilized to active duty twice for two 10-month combat deployments. He deployed to Afghanistan to serve in a Combat Hospital from July 2013 through May 2014, where he was the Department Head for the Trauma/Emergency Department. He was mobilized again to the Middle East from July 2015 through May 2016, to serve as the Task Force Surgeon for the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command, contributing to the fight against ISIS.
