Several dilemmas in medical ethics have stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic. Balancing duty of care to patients with duty to self and family is more blatant now than ever before. Particular complexities arise in the doctor-patient relationship challenging trusted core values. Difficult decisions on allocation of scarce resources inevitably result in complex priority setting and triage determinations.
