Ashok (Shammi Kapoor) a conman in Bombay, cheats people for money. He writes to his mother, claiming to be a big shot in the city of dreams and sends her small sums of money. However, his life changes after meeting Seema (Saira Banu), a rich heiress and they plan to get married. Kumar, a friend of Seema's uncle, tries to woo her and exposes Ashok's background. Will Ashok be able to undo his past sins and regain Seema's trust?
