Caller: I was just wondering if you guys have any theories as to why it is that liberals and centrists keep listening to people who have been wrong about everything. Like Larry Summers is this person who's just like his policy recommendations under Clinton Obama has consistently just been wrong. But he's still treated like this. You know this great intellectual and somebody who's who should be taken very seriously. Thomas Friedman's another example. Like the guy I think he was the person who said we should go into Iraq because suck on this. Yeah and there seem to be so many thoughtful people on the left but who are still obscure and not taken seriously outside like the nation or something.
Emma: Well I'll say this, I mean you're allowed to be wrong in certain ways as long as you are protecting power. Larry Summers protects the banks. Somebody like Tom Friedman, especially during the Iraq war was vigorously supportive of the war effort. so you can be wrong as long as you don't piss off anybody in power.
