The former Ypsilanti Middle School employee accused of choking a student with his shirt was charged with assault to do great bodily harm. In a video the student's mother - Yolanda Ellis - gave to MLive/The Ann Arbor News, Joshua Smith appears to take off his shirt, run at him from behind and wrap the shirt around his neck. The student is seen struggling for more than 10 seconds until he breaks from the coach’s grip and walks away. (Video provided by Yolanda Ellis)
