The Jewish leader of a nonprofit on the ground in Israel providing aid to those suffering after Hamas' Oct. 7 terror attack believes it's essential for the Jewish state to defend itself. "Hamas is worse than ISIS. They're more like the Nazis," Yael Eckstein, CEO of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), told CBN Digital. "They kidnapped babies. They beheaded children. They took Holocaust survivors into captivity."

Despite this latest iteration of hate, Eckstein, whose organization is providing food, resources, bulletproof vests, and bomb shelters amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, said anti-Jewish sentiment isn't new. She said Israel had given over the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians years ago, leaving greenhouses and a thriving economy.

"There were many people in the Palestinian world then who wanted peace, who wanted to use this opportunity to build up the Gaza Strip for economic independence and a thriving economy," she said. "But what Hamas did as a terror group was ... burn down the greenhouses that Israel built for them." Eckstein continued, "Then they took everyone who wanted peace and brotherhood with Israel and partnership and killed them." She said Israel cannot afford to risk something like this attack happening again, expressing her hope Hamas is defeated to prevent such atrocities against Israel and the Palestinian people under Hamas rule.

As for IFCJ's work, she shared the ways in which her organization is collaborating with first responders and providing food for those in need, partnering with local government and organizations to serve wherever they're most needed. Eckstein described the "heartbreaking" stories about death and loss she's hearing along the way. Despite the overwhelming sadness, she said her work progresses and prayers from across the globe sustain her. "We are in a spiritual war, just as much as this is a physical war," she said. "It's a very clear war between good and evil, between light and darkness."
