ATTITUDES of a person who ONLY USES YOU and DOESN'T CARE about YOU | Stoicism

It can be hard to spot fake relationships, just like it's hard to tell the difference between a mirage and an oasis in the vast desert of human contact. It takes both instincts and a sharp eye to figure out who really cares about us in a world full of meetings and mismatches where people wear masks of friendliness and self-interest with skill. Like a skilled gardener who knows the difference between plants that feed and plants that take nutrients from the earth, sometimes we put too much faith in other people's goodness and goodwill when what's really going on is that they're just using us. We need to learn to tell the difference between people who are really on our side and people who are just trying to take advantage of our emotions.
