The Toronto Raptors are in a battle with the Atlanta Hawks over a trade involving Pascal Siakam. The two-time all-star and two-time all-NBA member has been on the radar of the Hawks for quite some time as they look to give some real scoring support to superstar point guard Trae Young and recent acquisition Dejounte Murray. Reports from Shams Charania of The Athletic indicated that Landry Fields’ front office was willing to offer up De’Andre Hunter, AJ Griffin, and draft compensation to bring Spicy P to Atlanta but seeing as the Cameroonian forward is still on the Raptors roster, the trade was rejected.

Despite talks for this trade having stalled, there is one swing piece that can push the deal through if the Hawks are hellbent on acquiring Siakam’s services, even with the player indicating he has no intention of signing an extension wherever he goes. Masai Ujiri and the Raptors front office may finally be realizing that now is the time to retool this roster and grabbing this recent first-round pick from the Hawks could be the exact way to do it. Despite selecting Gradey Dick with the 13th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft, Kobe Bufkin out of Michigan was very high on their radar and this could be the trade that allows Toronto to snatch both of these prospects heading into their rookie seasons.
