The Edward Cancer Center has teamed up with the Naperville Public Library on a project to warm not only hearts but also heads.

This group of knitters and crocheters came together at the 95th Street Library to create chemo caps for patients in need. It’s this summer’s pay it forward portion of the Stitching and Stacks program, run by the library and created by Ruth Kliewer.

Volunteers gather to enjoy a hobby, so that cancer patients can enjoy a hat.

“This is a great cause and it really raises awareness for people who might be struggling with hair loss,” says Multimedia Associate Mary Rogers.

“You know, different types of things to make yourself feel better might be expensive like certain wigs. But these crochet and knit hats are very lovely and they are soft. The criteria for making them are it has to be soft and seamless and make you feel good,” added Rogers.

At the end of August these caps will be delivered to Edward Cancer Center. The classes are offered on the first and third Tuesday and Thursdays of every month, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
