Peggy Gallagher and her eldest son Paul talk about what it is like to be family members of one of the most successful bands in the world.

A native of Charlestown County Mayo Peggy is Liam and Noel Gallagher’s mother. Her eldest son Paul has written a book ‘Brothers: From Childhood To Oasis - The Real Story’ with British broadcaster Terry Christian.

Paul Gallagher who works for Oasis with record label Creation Records has a good relationship with his brothers but says that as the band’s fame has increased it is harder to get near them.

A native of Charlestown County Mayo and one of eleven children, Peggy Gallagher emigrated to Manchester aged eighteen where she worked as a housekeeper and childminder. The majority of her siblings live in Manchester, and she believes that the music comes from her mother’s side of the family,

She had brothers that were always into Irish music…the fiddle and the accordion.

In response to a caller’s question, Peggy Gallagher says the way her two famous sons are portrayed in the press bears no resemblance to how they are in reality,

I know them...I think the press blow it out of all proportion.

Peggy Gallagher also attends Oasis concerts, picking out their sellout Páirc Uí Chaomh gig as one of the best. Noel and Liam are very good to her and have offered to buy her a new house, but she does not want to move,

They can’t understand why I’m staying in the house that I’m in.
