Park City | Eagle |

Eagle was installed in 1993 to serve some race trails, and an alternate way out of the base area, accessing King Con. It was shortened in 2002 to start at 3:08 in the video to serve the 2002 Olympics, creating space for a temporary stadium, with a rope tow for racers to access Eagle from the base area. It was re-lengthened to its original and current length after the Olympics, and continues to serve race course trails, with a mid-station that was part of the original installation, where only racers are allowed to unload.
Eagle is a Garaventa CTEC triple chair. It uses a Gemini fixed top drive terminal, and a Pegasus tensioned return. The towers I believe are Garaventa CTEC towers, though the lifting frames look almost exactly like the ones Doppelmayr was making at the time, which leads me to believe Doppelmayr may have added or replaced existing lifting frames. Update: Eagle is being replaced with a high speed six-pack from Doppelmayr, with a mid-station, summer 2022. The lift's alignment would change significantly, with the mid unload station dropping skiers and riders off near the top of 3 Kings, and the top station sitting next to King Con Express, providing direct access to the Quicksilver Gondola right out of the base. Update (June 16th, 2022): As of the night before, an appeal by citizens from the town of Park City was voted 3-1 to be heard by Park City Planning Commission regarding lift replacements. No work had started on deconstruction of Eagle, and this lift will not be removed until at least next summer. Update (September 28th, 2022): Vail Resorts has recently announced the equipment to replace Eagle with a six-pack is going to instead replace Jersey Cream Express at Whistler-Blackcomb in the summer of 2023. Eagle will have to get newer equipment for a replacement now. Recorded on February 17th, 2021 |
