I've installed the MATE PPA in Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 LTS and installed the Compiz Config Settings Manager, allowing me to bring back those old style Gnome2 desktop effects we all miss and love. MATE desktop is a fork of Gnome2, bringing with it updated code, and extending its life, and the life of many old computers that can't handle a heavier destkop environment
