Rosie, a materials engineering major from Joliet, Illinois, wanted to stay in the Midwest for college but also wanted an affordable university with a lot of hands-on learning opportunities, like research projects with faculty. When she reached out to UW-Milwaukee for more information, she heard back right away, which made her decision to study at UWM an easy one. As a UW-Milwaukee student, Rosie has also gotten to know the city of MIlwaukee better, too. "When I was living on MIlwaukee's East Side, I would go to the lake to de-stress and meditate," she says.
