The Clean - Quickstep (live at the Rumba Bar, Auckland, 15 May 1982)

"Quickstep", a stalwart of The Clean's live set since it's inception circa 1981, was never formally recorded in a studio. However a live version, recorded by Paul Kean on a Ferrograph reel to reel tape recorder at the Gladstone Hotel, Christchurch on the 4th of July 1981, has been released on two separate occasions, albeit both different to each other. The first, on the "Compilation" album released in the late 80's, is taken from a cassette dub and ends abruptly before the tempo change. The second, on the 2CD "Anthology" released in 2002, has been taken from a digital transfer of the master tape and is complete, including the tempo change.

This was a private show, other bands on the bill included The Chills, Tall Dwarfs and This Sporting Life. The show was not only was filmed by North Television but was also recorded on a TEAC 4-Track by Chris Knox and Doug Hood; some of the audio subsequently released includes "Flamethrower" by the Chills as one of two B-sides to the Rolling Moon single (1982) and "Two Fat Sisters" and "Happy Birthday John" by The Clean, released on their posthumous 12" E.P. Live Dead Clean (1986).

The Clean comprise of David Kilgour (guitars/vocals), Robert Scott (bass/vocals) and Hamish Kilgour (drums/vocals).
