The Dallas Mavericks have signed Dorian Finney-Smith to a 4-year, $52 million contract extension following the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline. Finney-Smith gets locked up for the foreseeable future as Jason Kidd and Nico Harrison wanted to prioritize him and Jalen Brunson long-term after trading Kristaps Porzingis. Brunson is also eligible for a contract extension, but he won’t be extended until NBA Free Agency when he can make more money on a new deal. Kristaps Porzingis trade news sent shockwaves around the NBA as Dallas shipped him to Washington for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. Porzingis’ injury issues have been a problem since the Mavs traded for him 3 years ago and that was lingering again this season. The Mavericks now add Dinwiddie and Bertans to their rotation around Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith and others. The NBA Buyout market is heating up as the Mavericks and other teams will look to add players that become free agents. Goran Dragic is expected to get bought out by the San Antonio Spurs after the Raptors traded him earlier today.
