He talks to camera: "You know this is not my first appearance on the films. I don't know how many of you have actually seen me before but - er - I'm an old hand at this. The only thing that could be new about this nights entertainment as it happens to be, is that a play of mine is going to be filmed. Now - er - don't make the mistake, I don't mean that the play of mine is going to be handed over to people who will make something quite different out of it. All of them believe that they know it better than I know it myself. This time the Pascal firm, my friend Mr. Gabriel Pascal has made this film, has tried the extraordinary experiment of putting a play on the films just as the author wrote it to be put on the films and wanted it to be put on the films. You know for years past I've wanted to have my plays filmed and I get nothing but insults. There they - I'm talking now of America - I talking of Hollywood - by the way I know perfectly well that Hollywood is not America, God forbid that it should be! It runs out at this point
